We were recently approached with a really fun one - a set of oversized golf statues for the entrance of Shining Light Entertainment, a new mini golf, laser tag, and axe throwing venue opening inside the Lakeside Hills Mall in Willmar. What made this one even more special is that it was put together as a surprise for the family behind the business. That kind of thing matters to us.

Starting from raw steel in the shop, we built out two matching oversized golf tee and club sculptures from scratch. Each piece features a central tee post, a pair of crossed golf clubs, and a large painted golf ball on top - one bright green and one purple. Every component was welded, shaped, and finished by hand. You can see where we were mid-build, pieces laid out on the shop floor getting measured and fitted before paint ever touched them.

Custom fabrication like this requires a lot of planning before any welding starts. The structures have to be sturdy enough to sit outdoors permanently on concrete bases, look clean and finished from every angle, and actually read well at a distance so passersby get the visual right away. Getting the geometry of the crossed clubs to sit symmetrically and stay rigid took some careful work. The detail in the club heads - grooves and all - shows the level of finish we put into these.

Once painted and assembled, both statues were loaded up and delivered to the mall for installation. They now sit flanking the entrance to Shining Light Entertainment on concrete pads, one on each side of the door. If you drive past the movie theater entrance, you'll spot them right away. They're hard to miss.

We're proud this one came together as well as it did. Willmar is getting a great new spot for families and friends to hang out, and we're glad our work gets to be part of the welcome. This is exactly the kind of custom fabrication work we love - something built to last, built to stand out, and built with a good reason behind it.
