We got a call from a customer near Eagle Creek Golf Course in Willmar with a pretty common stainless fire pit problem - water pooling inside with nowhere to go. Every rain left them with a soggy mess of ash and debris. Not a fun situation when you just want to get a fire going.
The fix wasn't complicated, but it had to be done right. We loaded up the mobile rig and headed out to handle it on-site. That's one of the biggest advantages of mobile welding - no hauling the pit somewhere, no waiting weeks for a shop turnaround. We show up, we work, it gets done.
Here's what we built: an 8-inch stainless riser welded onto the existing pit to raise the walls, plus a custom-fit cover with two welded handles. The cover sits flush and keeps rain, leaves, and junk out when the pit isn't in use. The handles make it easy to lift off without burning your hands or fumbling around. Simple, practical, built to last.
Stainless is the right material for this kind of work. It holds up to heat, resists rust, and looks clean even after heavy use. When you're doing mobile fabrication on an existing piece, getting the fit right matters a lot - a sloppy cover that doesn't seat properly defeats the whole purpose. We cut and fit everything on-site to make sure it landed correctly.
If you've got a metal issue around your property that needs a real fix - not a workaround - this is exactly the kind of work we do. Custom fabrication, on your turf, built the way it should be.
